Chakras are centers of spiritual and physical energy located within the human body, according to ancient Indian traditions, particularly those found in Hinduism and Buddhism. The word “chakra” comes from the Sanskrit word for “wheel” or “disk,” representing spinning energy centers that are believed to regulate different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

There are seven main chakras, each associated with a specific location along the spine, starting from the base and rising to the crown of the head:

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine, associated with grounding, survival, and security.

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Located in the lower abdomen, connected to creativity, sexuality, and emotions.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Found in the upper abdomen, representing personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Located at the top of the head, symbolizing spiritual connection, enlightenment, and higher consciousness.

Each chakra is thought to correspond to different physical, emotional, and spiritual functions, and balancing them is believed to lead to overall well-being. Practices like yoga, meditation, and energy healing (e.g., Reiki) often aim to open and align the chakras to maintain a harmonious flow of energy.
